There are six instructor levels available within the IYAF. These levels are not automatic and are granted by the grading instructor to level he/she is authorized to grade to. Each level allows grading and registration with honbu. The levels are as follows:

6th Dan Dai Ichi Level 1 Grading level to Yodan

5th Dan Dai Ni Level 2 Grading level to Sandan

4th Dan Dai San Level 3 Grading level to Nidan

3rd Dan Dai Yon Level 4 Grading level to Shodan

2nd Dan Dai Go Level 5 Grading level to 1st Kyu

1st Dan Dai Roku Level 6 Grading level to 4th Kyu
