SHODAI KANCHO
Gozo Shioda Kancho (1915-1994)
o Born September 5th 1915 Tokyo, Yotsuya.
o 1932 Began training under Morihei Ueshiba Sensei
o 1941 Graduated from university. Assigned an administrative position during WW2. Was posted to China, Taiwan and Borneo.
o 1946 Returned to Japan.
o 1950 Began teaching Aikido.
o 1954 Entered the All Japan Kobudo demonstration and won prize for most outstanding demonstration.
o 1955 Established the Yoshinkan Aikido dojo.
o 1957 Developed Senshusei program for Tokyo Metropolitan Police.
o 1961 Received 9th dan from Morihei Ueshiba sensei.
o 1983 Received the rank of Hanshi from the International Budo Federation.
o 1985 Received 10th dan from the International Budo Federation.
o 1988 Was recognized for service to aikido by the International Budo Federation.
o Passed away on July 17th 1994.
NIDAI KANCHO
Kyoichi Inoue Kancho
o 1935 born in Hokkaido.
o 1955 enrolled at the Yoshinkan dojo on November 1st.
o 1970 following a request from the Metropolitan Police Office, was assigned to teach aikido to the Womens police and Riot Squad members at the Metropolitan Police School.
o 1996 Retired from Metropolitan Police.
o 1996 Returned to head Yoshinkan Honbu dojo. Assigned the title of Dojocho by Aikido Yoshinkai.
o 2002 Awarded the rank of Hanshi and assigned title of Kancho by Aikido Yoshinkai.
o 2007 Retires as Kancho and from daily instruction at the Yoshinkan honbu dojo.
SANDAI KANCHO
Yasuhisa Shioda Kancho
o Born November 15, 1952
o 1965 At age 13 begins his aikido training under his father, Gozo Shioda Kancho
o 1976 Graduates from the Economics Department of Chuo University in Tokyo.
o 1976-1984 As a member of the Yoshinkan Aikido Dojo, he continued to undergo Aikido training with his father and helped spread Aikido by teaching it in universities, to police departments, and various organizations.
o 1984-1987 Sprends three years teaching Yoshinkan Aikido in England.
o 1990 Along with his father, establishes the International Yoshinkai Aikido Federation.
o 2007 On June 14, 2007, was elected as 3rd Yoshinkan Aikido Kancho.
