Sivakumar Arani (1969 ~ 2010)

It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our good friend and fellow student, Siva Arani. Siva passed away on July 22, 2010.

Nidan, Yoshinkan Aikido Foundation

Siva began his studies of Yoshinkan Aikido in March 2003. Siva came to the Seikeikan not having studied any other form or martial arts. In the same year, Siva earned his 6th kyu by December. He also attended his first clinic featuring Amos Parker Shihan, then 8th dan. (now 9th dan). Training on average of 4 hours a week at home and countless on his own, Siva tested for his Shodan, first degree black belt, in December of 2006. Siva continued his training and was tested for Nidan, second degree black belt, in April 2008.

Siva is remembered by many as a great student who showed great spirit and joy in his training. Siva always trained hard and when working with newer students, showed great patience. He always had a smile on his face. No one can recall a time where he complained about anything at the dojo.

Siva will be missed and will always be in our heart. During the week of July 26 ~ 30, all classes were dedicated in memory of Siva. We all practiced with great spirit, two of Siva's favorite techniques.
