The Aikido Seikeikan dojo was established in June of 1999. It was originally located at the former Starz Gymnastics and Preschool located on Main Avenue. In July of 2000, it hosted its first seminar with the late Amos L. Parker Shihan and had participants from around the US. Over the course of the next 12 years, the dojo hosted 17 seminars with Parker Shihan. In this same year, the dojo received its name, Seikeikan (精渓館) from the late Kiyoyuki Terada Hanshi, 10th dan. The meaning loosely translates to "A place where the spirit of the mountains and rivers gather"
In 2001, the dojo moved to its current location at the Orangevale Youth Center. Aikido classes have been offered through the Orangevale Recreation and Parks District ever since and has been in continuous operation since opening in 1999. This includes the pandemic years, mainly due to a group of dedicated students and instructors.
The dojo has hosted numerous seminars including instructors from Japan, and has welcomed instructors and visitors from around the world. Visitor's are always welcome; and we look forward to your visit.
